Lagos: Nine Killed In Boat Accident

The Lagos State Government confirmed the death of nine persons in the boat mishap which occurred at the weekend in Ilashe area of the State. In a statement issued by the Managing Director of Lagos State Waterways Authority, Engr Abisola Kamson, the State Government attributed the unfortunate mishap to overloading of passengers on a Banana Boat and operation of illegal jetty.

American comedian Jerry Lewis has died today at the age of 91, following a lengthy career of entertainment and humanitarian work. A statement issued by reviewer John Katsilometes confirmed the sad news. "Very sad to report entertainment legend JerryLewis has died today at 9:15 a.m. at his home in Las Vegas. He was 91," he tweeted. "Legendary entertainer Jerry Lewis passed away peacefully today of natural causes at 91 at his home with family by his side."

Kogi Declares Monday Public Holiday For Thanksgiving Over Buhari

Kogi State Government has declared Monday, August 21 as a public holiday for citizens to thank God for the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari to the country. The Director-General, media and publicity to the state governor, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, said it was to enable the people to give thanks to God for bringing back President Buhari in sound health and sound mind. He said the decision was also in line with the support the people of the state had given Buhari in his efforts at correcting the ills of the past and putting the nation on sound economic footing.
